When I was 16, I was fortunate enough to be selected for Nesin Art Village's inaugural pilot program in the Northern Aegean of Turkey. It was a unique education campus that had been offering individuals a democratic and communal space to pursue specialized studies in Mathematics, Philosophy, and Art since 2007. Being a part of the Village was a transformative experience that opened my eyes to a world of hybrid practices and interdisciplinary learning. At the Village, I was exposed to the magic of knowledge and art, but also learned about a new practice of living. The sense of belonging, acceptance, and freedom I felt was unparalleled. I found myself in a community that valued harmony through ideas and understanding, rather than traditional markers of success. It was a stark alternative to contemporary culture, and it fundamentally changed the course of my life.
This love affair with the Village never ended; it evolved with every program I joined, every artist I met, and every moment I spent volunteering. The Village was more than just a physical place; it was a state of mind where I could trust, find peace, and grow through knowledge. That's why we build The Station - to spread the unique culture and opportunities that the Village provides to others. It is my hope that by making this magical place accessible to everyone.
